What happens to your dream.
Dreams are personal, and often sensitive. We want to be plain about exactly what Manam does with what you write — and what it does not. This page describes how the app actually works, not an aspiration.

In short
- Your dream is sent to a third-party AI to be interpreted. When you ask for an interpretation, the text of your dream and any context you add are sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) to generate the reading. It is not interpreted only on your device.
- Your dream journal is stored on this device only. Past dreams and their interpretations are saved on the device you used — in your browser's local storage on the web, and in on-device storage in the mobile app. They are not uploaded to Manam's servers and do not sync between your devices.
- We do not sell your data. We never sell, rent, or trade your dreams or personal information.
- You are not anonymous to the AI provider. The interpretation cannot happen without sharing your dream with Anthropic, so the words you write are processed by a company other than us.
Dream interpretation & Anthropic
Manam does not interpret dreams by itself. When you request an interpretation or clarifying questions, your dream text and the context you provide are transmitted to Anthropic's API, which runs the Claude model that produces the reading. We also send a block of classical reference material from our own dream-symbol corpus to guide the response. Anthropic processes this data to return the result.
Anthropic's handling of data sent to its API is governed by Anthropic's own privacy and commercial terms. Please review Anthropic's policies if you want to understand their retention and usage practices. Because interpretation depends on this external service, you should treat anything you submit as having left your device.
What we store, and where
Your dream journal — the dreams you save, their interpretations, favorites, and tags — is kept on the device you used: in your browser's local storage on the web, and in on-device storage in the mobile app. It is not uploaded to Manam's servers and does not sync between your devices. Clearing your browser data, or removing the app, removes it. This is the only place your journal lives.
If you create an account, sign-in is handled through Supabase, our authentication provider. This involves your email address and the session credentials needed to keep you signed in. Your saved dreams are not stored in your account or in our database — the journal stays on your device, as described above.
When you request an interpretation, your dream is sent over the network to our server and on to Anthropic. It is processed to produce your reading and then returned to you.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
- We do not use your dreams for advertising or to build a profile about you for marketing.
- We do not publish or share your dreams with other users.
Your choices
- Your journal stays with you. Whether or not you have an account, your saved dreams stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
- Delete your journal. You can remove individual dreams in the app, or clear all of them by clearing your browser's site data for Manam on the web, or by removing the app on mobile.
- Decide what to write. Because interpretation requires sending your text to Anthropic, share only what you are comfortable having processed by a third-party AI service.
Children
Manam is intended for adults and is not directed at children. Please do not use the app to submit information about, or on behalf of, a child.
Changes to this policy
As Manam evolves, this policy may change. When it does, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Manam after a change means you accept the updated policy.
