Singing in a dream means falsehood and trouble. Having a beautiful voice in a dream may represent a profitable business. Otherwise, if one sings off key in his dream, it means that he is venturing into a losing business. A singer in a dream also represents a wise person, a preacher, or a physician. The location where the singing has taken place in the dream will experience lies, falsehood and separation between beloveds because ofjealousy, envy and perfidy. Singing in a dream also connotes evil, disputes and fights. If a professional singer, a musician, or a music writer sees himself singing his repertoire in a dream, it means benefits and profits. If the singing is bad, or off key in the dream, then it could mean lack of work, meekness, or it could mean having little opinion about oneself. If one sees himself singing while walking in a dream, it means earning a comfortable livelihood, being content and having a good opinion about oneself. Singing in the bathroom or under a shower in a dream means speaking unclear words, or having a dispute. If a rich person sees himself singing in the streets or in a marketplace in a dream, it means a scandal, or it could carry bad connotation. If a poor person or an evil person sees such a dream, it means that he has lost his mind. Some of the dream interpreters said that singing is indicativeof disputes and of the place where singing is done, because usuallylies are told and there is gossip in that place which causes divisionamong loved ones, because the first one who sang was Iblees and heis most mendacious and most malicious of creation. Any singing in themarketplace is indicative of a scandal for the rich man and a lack ofwisdom for the poor man. Shaykh Shihaab-ud-Deen said: Singing isa bad manifestation of what is in the heart of secrets. If he sings forsomeone else in a nice voice, then he is a man with a smooth tonguewho knows how to bring out the secrets in the hearts. It may alsoindicate that he will have sickness inside his body or in his throat orhead, because these parts hurt from singing too much, just as dancing isindicative of being very tired, because of its repetitive movements, andit is indicative of a pain in the head, because of dizziness.I dreamt that the Faqeeh Abu'l-'Abbaas was singing and he wassick, so I interpreted that as signaling his death, because it is said thatso- and-so sang when he dies. And I experienced that with regard toothers too. It seems to me that if a man hears singing and singing usuallyincludes poetry, then it is like listening to poetry and the interpretationis to be based on the content of the poetry, as discussed above. It maybe indicative of trouble, because joy in a dream signifies trouble. Or itmay indicate that he will hear good news. One of the dream interpreterssaid: Singing is indicative of a scholar or a ruler or a preacher.
