Reading Qur’an

If a person dreams that he is reading the Qur'an, then look at what isindicated by the Verse that is on his lips when he wakes up. If it containsgood news, then give him glad tidings; if it mentions a punishment orwarning, then warn him. If he is striving for something and the Verseindicates that it will be achieved for him, then it will be achieved,otherwise it will not. For example, a man dreamt that he was recitingthe Verse, "They will say: 'We inform You that none of us bears witnessto it (that they are Your partners)!'" [Fussilat 41:47] And he was trying to offer his testimony. I said to him: You will notachieve anything. And the interpretation may be in the preceding and following Verses. If the dreamer did not recognize which Verse it was, but he knew that he was reading Qur'an, it is all good and beneficial, especially if he recitedit in a beautiful voice and the people were listening and enjoying it. That is indicative of a rise in status and a good reputation. One of the dream interpreters said: If a person who is in a state ofpurity reads Qur'an, it is to be interpreted as indicating that he is anhonest man who follows the truth and enjoins what is good and forbids what is evil, because Allah says: " They recite the Verses of Allah during the hours of the night,prostrating themselves in prayer. " [Aal 'Imraan 3:113] Reading it from the Mushaf is indicative of knowledge, reason andglory, because the Mushaf in dream interpretation signifies wisdom. If hedreams that he bought a Mushaf, his knowledge will become widespreadamong people. If he dreams that the ruler gave him a Mushaf, he willbe appointed as a judge and his justice will prevail, because the Mushafcontains r ulings of Sharee ' ah. The Faqeeh Ibn 'Abd al - Rafee' dreamtthat and I interpreted it to him on that basis, and he was appointed tothat position. If he dreams that he is eating the pages of the Mushaf, he will earn aliving by making copies of it or in an in a ppropriate way. It was said thatthe one who dreams that he is eating the pages or lines of the Mushafand is one of the common folk will earn a living by reciting Qur'an. Ifhe dreams that he is kissing the Mushaf, it indicates that he is not fallingshort in performing acts of worship. If he dreams that he is tearing upthe Mushaf or burning it, that indicates that he is following innovation. If he dreams that he has a Mushaf or book in his hand and when heopens it he does not find any writing in it, it indica tes that his outwardappearance is different from his inward nature. If he dreams that he is writing Qur'an on a piece of cloth or wool,then he is going to interpret it on the basis of his personal opinion. Al - Hasan al - Basri said to Ibn Sireen: I dreamt tha t I was writing Qur'an on a garment. He said to him: Fear Allah and do not interpretthe Qur'an on the basis of your personal opinion. If he dreams that he is eating the Qur'an, he will earn a living by it. If he dreams that he is listening to the Qur'an, h is affairs will improveand his end will be good. If he dreams that the Qur'an was taken fromhim, his knowledge will be taken away and his good deeds will cease. If he dreams that he completed reading the Qur'an, his good deeds willbe great and he will get what he wants. A woman said to Ibn Sireen: I dreamt that there was a Mushaf inmy lap and I was reading from it, then two chickens came and tookeverything that was in it and ate it. He said: You will give birth to twoboys who will memorize the Qur'an. And that is what happened. A man said to him: I dreamt that I was reading Soorat al-Nasr. Hesaid to him: Your life will soon end, because it was the last Soorah tobe revealed. One of the worshippers said to him: I dreamt that Soorat al-Duhawas written on my forehead. He said to him: Your life will soon end.And he died shortly after that.
