Shaykh Shihaab - ud - Deen said: The ' Oud (a stringed instrument),cymbal, and other similar things are indicative of people who listento others and have no religious commitment. A man dreamt that heprostrated to a cymbal. He said to him: You love a singer or a foreigner ora Bedouin with a hand some face who plays music nicely. A king dreamtthat he set up cymbals against a city. He said to him: You will besiege itand set up mangonels against it, because the strings of the instrument arelike the ropes of the mangonel. A woman dreamt that there was an ' Oudin her lap and she was playing it. He said to her: You will have a childand you will talk to him in baby talk and he will be in your lap and willsay something back to you. Another person said: I dreamt that I becamethe sound of the ' Oud. He said: Y our presses will fall on you and youwill scream because of that. And all of that happened.
