Doctor, Oculist, Surgeon, and Bone Setter

These indicate the same as the perfume seller, because each one ofthem benefits people, takes from their wealth and has power over them. If a person dreams that he becomes one of them, he will be appointed toa position that will befit him, or his livelihood will improve and he willhave a time of ease. That applies if their conduct is good, such as if theydistribute beneficial medicine, or if the oculist uses good kohl to treatthe eyes, or the surgeon or bone setter provides good treatment. If weinterpret it as referring to appointment to a position of authority, thenhis conduct will be good; if we interpret it as referring to his livelihood,it will increase. A man dreamt that he became a doctor and that he distributed poisonand the people were taking it. Shaykh Shihaab-ud-Deen said to him:You are a snake charmer; you collect snakes and make a living fromthem. Another man dreamt that and Shaykh Shihaab-ud-Deen said tohim: Was the poison liquid? He said: Yes, as if it was olive oil. Hesaid: The people to whom you gave the poison, did you know them? He said: No, but they looked bad. He said: You are a king and you willsend water against your enemies and drown them. And he said: I knewa group and I sent water against those whom I did not capture and theydrowned. He said: The evidence for that is that the flow of poison in thebody is like the flow of water in plants. Another man said: I dreamt that I became an oculist and every time Icame near an eye I applied kohl to it and I liked it and kissed it. He said:You love eating raw eggs and you will get colic from that. And that iswhat happened. Another man said : I dreamt that I was a surgeon and I was cuttingpeople's flesh. He said: You are a bandit. Another man dreamt that andhe said: You are a poet. A doctor said: I dreamt that I became a judge and I saw that I wasnot good. He said: You prescribed for the pati ent something that is notgood and there is fear for you. Another man said: I dreamt that I became an oculist. He said: Youwork digging wells and channels and springs and you have experiencein that. You will become famous and people will need you. Another m an said: I dreamt that I was applying dust to eyes likekohl, and those eyes were staring at me. He said: You will prevail oversome spies.
