Adhaan and Iqaamah

It should be noted that the Adhaan and raising the voice inremembrance of Allah, may He be exalted, is indicative of enjoiningwhat is good and forbidding what is evil, and of drawing close to kings,especially if it is done in a beautiful voice and people listen to it. It isalso indicative of high status. If it is done at the wrong time, he willattain high status at an unexpected time. That happe ned to me withregard to a man who dreamt that a student gave the Adhaan at the timeof Duha (forenoon prayer). I interpreted it as meaning that he wouldbe appointed to a position that he did not deserve, and that is whathappened. A man said: I dreamt that I was giving the call to prayer when it wasnot the time for prayer. Shaykh Shihaab - ud - Deen said: You commit alot of sins and tell lies. He was referring to his saying "come to prayer"when it was not the time for prayer. If he changes the call to prayer or m akes mistakes in it, or in phrasesof Dhikr, or his 'Awrah is exposed, then he will become known forsomething bad or will be faced with trouble. A man said: I dreamt that I was giving the call to prayer from a hightower in a large city in a bad voice. Shayk h Shihaab - ud - Deen said tohim: You will have trouble from a woman in that place. A man said to Ibn Sireen: I dreamt that I was giving the call toprayer. He said: You will go for Hajj. Another man came to him andhe said to him: Your hand will be cut off. He was asked: What is thedifference? He said: I saw that the first one looked like a decent man, soI interpreted it on the basis of the words of Allah, " And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage) " [Al - Hajj 22:27] But the other one did not look the same, s o I interpreted it on thebasis of the words of Allah, "... then a crier cried: ' O you (in) the caravan! Surely, you arethieves! '" . [Yoosuf 12:70] If he dreams that he is giving the call to prayer in a well, it indicatesthat he will travel far. If he gives t he call to prayer in the street, if he is agood person he will enjoin what is good and forbade what is evil. If hedreams that he is giving the call to prayer from the top of the house, itspeople will die. If he dreams that he is giving the call to prayer f rom thetop of a wall, he will call a man to reconciliation. If he dreams that heis giving the call to prayer from his neighbor's roof, he will betray hisneighbor with his wife. If he dreams that he is giving the call to prayerat the gate of a ruler, he wil l give true testimony. If he dreams that heis giving the call to prayer in the wilderness without any troops aroundhim, that indicates that the dreamer is a spy who is spying on the troops;and it was said that the one who gives the call to prayer in the wi ldernesswithout any troops around him is a spy for thieves. If a prisoner dreamsthat he is giving the call immediately preceding the prayer (Iqaamah) or is praying, he will be released, because Allah says: "But if they repent [by rejecting Shirk (polytheism) and acceptIslamic Monotheism] and perform As-salaah (Iqaamat-as-Salaah),and give Zakaah, then leave their way free." [Al - Tawbah 9:5] If someone who is not in prison sees that in his dream, it may meanthat he will achieve something great for which peopl e will praise him,because Allah says: " Those (Muslim rulers) who, if We give them power in the land,(they) enjoin Iqamat - as - salah [i.e. to perform the five compulsorycongregational Salat (prayers) (the males in mosques)]. " [Al - Hajj 22:41] If he dreams tha t he gave the call immediately preceding prayer atthe door of his house from his bed, he will die and that bed is indicativeof his bier. A man said: I dreamt that my wife was giving the call to prayerand she was an old woman who was religiously committed. ShaykhShihaab - ud - Deen said to him: She will sing for women at a weddingparty.
